The second round of negotiations on implementing an electronic exchange of customs information between the customs services of EAEU member states and China took place in Shanghai. The negotiations were preceded by consultations between the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), its Chinese partners, and the EAEU member states, the EEC press center reports.
Experts noted a convergence of positions regarding the text of a protocol between the central customs authorities of the EAEU and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China concerning the procedures for information exchange. The scope of data to be shared and the conceptual provisions for technical specifications have been agreed upon. This is of fundamental importance for road freight logistics, as the protocol covers data on goods and vehicles involved in international transport.
The exchange of information is intended to accelerate customs operations, enhance the efficiency of risk management, improve customs control, and mitigate the risks associated with the importation of dangerous, prohibited, or restricted goods that might otherwise bypass customs oversight.
For road haulers operating along EAEU – China routes, this means fewer delays at the border and more predictable delivery timelines.
