Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have agreed to fully transition to electronic permits ("dozvods") for freight transportation by 2027, Transinfo.News reports.
At a meeting of the relevant commission in Baku, the parties decided to completely abandon paper forms in favor of the e-Permit system. This will reduce administrative barriers, increase transparency, and expedite freight delivery along the Trans-Caspian route.
To support growing trade turnover, the countries have significantly increased quotas. This year, an additional 6,000 permits will be exchanged, and the plan for next year has been increased to 28,000 for each side, an increase of 12,000 from the initial volume.
Kazakhstan already has successful experience with fully digitalizing permits with China and Uzbekistan. The transition to an electronic format with Azerbaijan will simplify the work of carriers through the elicense.kz service and will be an important step in developing economic cooperation between the two countries.
