Kazakhstan is expanding the testing of a «waiting list» feature within its electronic queue system at border crossing points. Following its implementation at three other crossings along the Chinese border, the pilot program has now been launched at the «Nur Zholy/Khorgos» checkpoint, reports the online platform TRANS.RU. As a result, the service is now operational across virtually the entire border between the two countries.
Previously, the service was introduced at the «Maykapchagay/Zimunai», «Dostyk-Alashankou» and «Kalzhat-Dulaty» checkpoints. The "waiting list" allows users to secure a slot in the system even when all spots for a specific date are fully booked—provided that another user cancels their reservation. The available slot is then assigned to the first person on the waiting list.
However, the cost of booking under these circumstances increases 100-fold — from one Monthly Calculation Index (MCI) to 100 MCI (currently, 1 MCI equals 4,325 tenge). Upon registration, the funds are merely frozen; they are only deducted if the user moves from the «waiting list» into the active electronic queue. If the service does not result in a confirmed slot, the funds are released after three days.
Users can join the «waiting list» when booking a queue slot and may opt out at any time by selecting the "Withdraw" button. While a user is on the waiting list, they cannot book a slot at any other crossing point along the same section of the border.
