Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have successfully conducted the first international transport operations under the eTIR system, BAMAP writes. This marks an important milestone in the digitalization of road transport in Central Asia.
The operations included transportation of vehicles from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan and delivery of spare parts in the opposite direction. The successful application of eTIR electronic guarantees was ensured by the associations AIRTO KR (Kyrgyzstan) and ABBAT (Tajikistan), which are members of the IRU. The eTIR national application developed by the UNECE was used to process transactions.
Specialists from the customs services and transport companies of the two countries were trained in the framework of seminars organized by the UNECE and the IRU, which contributed to the successful implementation of the project.
This achievement was the result of fruitful cooperation between Customs authorities, motor transport associations, the IRU and the UNECE aimed at developing digital transport technologies in the region.
