European companies with owners from Belarus will be banned from cargo transportation across the EU

Companies established in the European Union with Belarusian owners will be banned from cargo transportation across the EU, Interfax writes, referring to information from the Lithuanian customs.

"From August 2, 2024, for a motor transport company established in the European Union, 25% or more of which belongs to a Belarusian individual or legal entity (...) the transportation of goods across the territory of the EU, as well as in transit, will be prohibited," the message says.

At the same time, it is clarified that the sanctions will not affect companies that were established before April 8, 2022.

As explained by the Lithuanian Customs, restrictive measures are introduced in accordance with Regulation 2024/1865 adopted by the EU Council on June 29, 2024.
