A waiting list system has been launched in pilot mode at the "Maykapchagay" and "Bakhty" border crossing points in Kazakhstan, reports BAMAP. This service allows users to submit a request when no electronic queue slots are available for their desired date. To join the waiting list, users must select the "wallet" payment option during the booking process and check the corresponding box. Upon submission, an amount equivalent to the slot cost (100 MCI — Monthly Calculation Index) and a security deposit (20 MCI) will be placed on hold in the user's account.
If a booking is cancelled, the newly available slot is automatically assigned to the first person on the waiting list — without requiring further confirmation — though the assigned time may differ from the user's original preference. Only at this point is the 100 MCI fee deducted from the account; the status then changes to "In Queue," and the user gains access to their entry pass and a QR code. As there are currently no automated notifications, users must monitor their status manually via their personal account.
If no slots become available, the funds held on the account will be released three days after the requested date. Users may withdraw their request and recover the held funds at any time. It is important to note that while a vehicle is on a waiting list, it is prohibited to book a slot at any other border crossing point.
