Until the Lithuanian side resumes normal traffic through the Medininkai and Šalnichinkai checkpoints, trucks registered in Lithuania will not be allowed to cross the Belarusian border, the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus reports.
Over 1,100 Lithuanian-registered trucks that were unable to wait for the Lithuanian checkpoints to reopen will be stored in specially equipped parking areas near the Belarusian checkpoints of Kamenny Log, Benyakoni, Berestovitsa, and Kotlovka.
This decision was made to ensure safety on border access roads and the security of the vehicles.
Currently, 800 trucks have already been stored in these areas:
Drivers who have complied with official written requests from customs authorities to move their vehicles to the designated locations are entitled to leave Belarus.
