Russian Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Li Qiang signed a Joint Communique following the 30th Regular Meeting of the Heads of Government of Russia and China, which, among other things, addresses issues related to transportation cooperation between the countries.
This includes the development of key sea, rail, road, and river routes, the reconstruction of border crossings and the construction of new checkpoints, the implementation of electronic document management and driverless driving technologies, as well as the development of new logistics services, including the delivery of products to warehouses and the transportation of heavy cargo, according to Trans.ru.
In the area of road freight transportation, Russia and China reached agreements on the following areas:
Regarding rail transport, the countries will coordinate efforts to ensure uninterrupted and stable container train service across Russia. They will also actively promote the resumption of cross-border passenger train service, support the development of hazardous cargo transportation by rail, and promote the implementation of paperless transport documents.
The countries also agreed to strengthen cooperation to establish an economic transit corridor through Mongolia, with the goal of transporting up to 50 million tons of freight annually by 2030.
