Trade turnover between Spain and Russia decreased by 54.2% in the first nine months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 due to Western sanctions. This is reported by TASS, referring to the statement of the Russian Ambassador to Madrid Yuri Klimenko.
"The trade turnover between Russia and Spain has fallen victim to the short-sighted sanctions policy of the West," the ambassador said. - By the end of 2022, Russia's imports from Spain amounted to €1.28 billion, which is 42% less than in pre-sanctions 2021.
As Klimenko explained, in the first nine months of this year, the volume of trade decreased by 54.2% compared to the same period in 2022, Russia's exports to Spain fell by 58.6%, to €2.47 billion, and Russia's imports from Spain - by 35.2%, to €665.5 million. He also stressed that "Spain loses almost €1 billion annually on sales of its goods to Russia alone, which means closed factories and lost jobs."
