Seasonal restrictions on national roads have come into effect in Belarus, according to the Transinfo Freight Portal. The measures are aimed at preserving road surfaces during the spring thaw and affect the permissible axle loads of heavy vehicles.
Five regions have currently approved their schedules for introducing restrictions:
➭ Grodno Region: from March 16 to April 1.
➭ Minsk Region: from March 16 to April 10.
➭ Brest Region: from March 16 (from 12:00) to April 10 (until 17:00).
➭ Gomel Region: from March 20 to April 16.
➭ Mogilev Region: from March 20 to April 17.
A number of exceptions are traditionally provided. The bans do not apply to vehicles carrying: passengers; live animals; Flowers and mail; milk and dairy products. Road maintenance equipment is also exempt from the restrictions.
It's worth noting that the restrictions are being introduced not only on national highways but also on local roads. Specifically, corresponding decisions have already been made in the Chausy, Dribin, Cherikov, Klimovichi, and Mstislav districts.
