Traffic has officially begun moving through the new infrastructure at the Kraskino road border crossing with China in Primorsky Krai. Following a major two-and-a-half-year reconstruction project, the crossing's throughput capacity has increased fourfold — reaching 750 vehicles daily — according to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.
The modernization effort placed special emphasis on freight operations. For the first time, the checkpoint features an innovative portal-style inspection system integrated with a weight and dimension control unit. This setup allows for the simultaneous scanning of the vehicle body and measurement of its weight. This significantly accelerates inspection procedures and paves the way for reducing truck inspection times to the target of 10 minutes.
In total, the facility now includes 16 traffic lanes, approximately 60 new buildings, and over 100 units of modern equipment. As part of the Primorye-2 international transport corridor, the upgraded Kraskino crossing will ensure the steady flow of freight shipments and provide a major boost to foreign trade with China.
