Since November 11, overtaking for trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons on the D1 highway has been prohibited in the Czech Republic.
The agency clarifies that the ban is in effect from 06:00 to 22:00. In the South Moravian Region, it starts at 05:00.
By the way, overtaking of trucks is possible on three-lane sections. However, only in the middle lane.
Drivers who violate this rule may be fined 5,000-10,000 CZK and 7 penalty points.
It is reported that the Ministry of Transport also plans to introduce a ban on overtaking trucks on other highways.
Recall that the Czech government has repeatedly stated about the problem on the D1 road. The topic of the ban on overtaking by trucks is one of the most important here. It all started back in 2018, when cars were in a huge traffic jam on the D1 road due to terrible weather conditions and the fact that trucks unsuccessfully tried to overtake on high ground.
