The Council of the European Union (EU) imposes prohibitive tariffs on cereals, oilseeds and products of their processing from Russia and Belarus. The relevant decree is reported on the EU website, Vedomosti writes. The message states that duties on these products are being increased to such an extent that in practice their import will cease. The increase in import tariffs will also affect pellets from beet pulp and dried peas from Russia and Belarus. In addition, as noted in the EU, Russia and Belarus will be denied access to EU tariff quotas.
It is clarified that the measures will affect products from the Russian Federation and Belarus, which are directly or indirectly exported to the EU countries. Prohibitive tariffs will not affect transit through the EU from both countries to third countries. The innovations will come into force on July 1, 2024.
