On March 1, at the initiative of the Lithuanian side, traffic through Lithuanian checkpoints bordering the Belarusian "Kotlovka" and "Privalka" will be stopped.
If the specified checkpoints were designated as the place of delivery of goods in accordance with the customs transit procedure, they can be changed to other ones without completing such a procedure, the Association of International Road Carriers reports.
To obtain permission to change the place of delivery, the carrier must submit in writing or electronically to the customs authority of destination an application for changing such a place without completing the customs procedure of customs transit, together with documents confirming the need to change the place of delivery of goods (if available).
At the same time, it is not required to present to the customs authority a vehicle and (or) goods placed under the customs procedure of customs transit.
The checkpoints "Myadininkai" ("Kamenny Log") and "Shalchininkai" ("Benyakoni") remain open to the movement of vehicles, only in them, according to the decision of the Lithuanian side, pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be stopped from the specified time.
In this regard, the Belarusian customs has promptly taken measures to increase the number of employees working at open checkpoints. In addition, in order to reduce the time of customs operations, technical means of customs control from closed checkpoints will be redirected to these checkpoints.
