According to the information of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, from October 1, a deposit will be applied in accordance with Article 258.1.4 of the Customs Code in order to ensure payment of customs debt that may arise during transit transportation of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, Sputnik Azerbaijan writes.
The minimum security amount for each vehicle carrying out transit transportation of these goods is set at the equivalent of $200 thousand.
"On the day of approval of the customs declaration, a document confirming the deposit of funds in the form of a bank deposit (deposit) in manats at the rate set by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan must be submitted to the customs authority," the ministry said in a statement.
