Vladimir Orlovsky, Chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC), discussed the strategic development directions of the customs service until 2030 at the 17th International Scientific and Practical Conference «EAEU 2.0: Transformations and Prospects of Customs Administration», BELTA reports.
• Intelligent Customs. The Belarusian service is transitioning from electronic declarations to "smart" administration based on artificial intelligence technologies.
• Digital technologies. Plans are underway to introduce machine vision (for automatic document reading and scan analysis) and Big Data analytics based on the common EAEU database.
• Infrastructure upgrades. A large-scale reconstruction of the Kamenny Log checkpoint (without traffic disruption) is underway, and new logistics centers are being built in Vitebsk, Grigorovskina, and Benyakoni.
• Changes to laws. Amendments to the EAEU Customs Code to combat counterfeit transit and expand the use of electronic navigation seals are nearing completion.
