Abkhazia has reduced the export of tangerines to Russia by 30% due to crop failures this season. This is reported by TASS with reference to information from the State Customs Committee of Abkhazia.
The citrus season starts in October and lasts until the end of winter. The peak is in December.
"From October to January 29, 25.8 thousand tons of tangerines were exported from Abkhazia to the Russian Federation, in the same period last year - 37.1 thousand tons," said the head of the statistics department, Asida Kvitsinia.
The current season, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, is lean. Usually, if one year is fruitful, then the next one is less. So far, the citrus harvest continues, but not in such volumes as in November and December, the department reported.
