The decision not to open a checkpoint on the border of Finland and Russia is reported by the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.
According to local media, "the government's position has not changed: It wants to keep the border closed, provided that legal grounds for such a decision are found."
It is clarified that the government is under great pressure from society, which, according to opinion polls conducted in December, supports decisive action on restrictions at the border.
Recall that on November 28, Finland temporarily closed all nine checkpoints on the border with Russia. The reason for this restriction was the influx of refugees from Iraq, Yemen, Somalia and Syria, who are trying to enter the country through Russia. On the night of November 30, the last working checkpoint "Raya-Jooseppi" was closed.
