The Ministry of Justice of Finland rejected the idea of a complete closure of the border.
According to local media, this decision was made by the Vice-Chancellor of Justice Mikko Puumalainen. He believes that stricter restrictions would exclude the possibility of applying for asylum, and there are no formal prerequisites for the introduction of restrictions.
Recall that since November 18, the Finnish authorities have closed four border crossings on the border with Russia: "Vaalimaa", "Nuiyamaa", "Imatra" and "Niiralaa". A day later, another one was closed, "Vartius" (from the Russian side — "Luttia" in Karelia). They will not work until at least February next year.
