Cargo turnover of Russian seaports in January-March 2024 decreased by 3.3% compared to the same period in 2023, to 214.3 million tons, Interfax writes with reference to information from the Association of Commercial Seaports.
Thus, according to ASOP, transshipment of dry cargo decreased by 2.5% to 103.5 million tons, bulk cargo - by 4.1% to 110.8 million tons.
In particular, in the dry cargo segment, coal transshipment fell by 15.2% to 43.4 million tons, ferrous metals - by 5.3% (to 4.9 million tons), ore - by 4.4% (to 2.2 million tons), ferry cargo - by 1.3% (to 1.8 million tons). At the same time, grain transshipment increased by 13.1% (up to 18 million tons), cargo in containers - by 11.9% (up to 13.6 million tons), mineral fertilizers - by 37.9% (up to 10.2 million tons).
In the bulk cargo segment, oil transshipment increased by 0.7% to 69 million tons, and liquefied gas by 4.6% (to 9.4 million tons). Transshipment of petroleum products decreased by 16.5% (to 29.7 million tons), food cargo - by 1.3% (to 1.7 million tons).
167.9 million tons of export cargo were overloaded (+3.4%), 9.8 million tons of imported cargo (+3.2%), 17.5 million tons of transit cargo (+1.6%), and 19.1 million tons of coastal cargo (-6.9%).
The cargo turnover of the seaports of the Arctic basin amounted to 23.5 million tons (-4.3%), of which the volume of transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 6.4 million tons (-11.6%), bulk cargo - 17.1 million tons (-1.2%). The cargo turnover of the port of Murmansk amounted to 13.6 million tons (-9.1%), Sabetta - 7.4 million tons (+5.6%), Varandey - 1.3 million tons (-5%) and Arkhangelsk - 0.5 million tons (+26.5%).
In the ports of the Baltic basin, the volume of cargo transshipment amounted to 63.7 million tons (-1.6%), of which the volume of dry cargo transshipment amounted to 29.4 million tons (+12.3%), bulk cargo - 34.3 million tons (-11.1%). The cargo turnover of the Large Port of St. Petersburg increased by 39.7%, to 13.4 million tons, Vysotsk - by 1.5%, to 3.3 million tons. The port of Ust-Luga reduced transshipment by 15.8%, to 27.7 million tons, Primorsk - by 0.3%, to 16.8 million tons.
The cargo turnover of the seaports of the Azov-Black Sea basin amounted to 70.6 million tons (-4.2%), including dry cargo - 32.4 million tons (-6.8%), bulk cargo - 38.2 million tons (-1.9%). The port of Novorossiysk increased transshipment by 6%, to 43 million tons. Transshipment at the port of Taman fell by 28.7% to 8.1 million tons. The cargo turnover of the port of Tuapse decreased to 4.9 million tons (-19.5%), the Caucasus - to 4.3 million tons (-7.8%), Rostov-on-Don - to 3.6 million tons (-6.4%).
In the Caspian basin, 2.2 million tons of cargo (+40.4%) were overloaded at seaports, including 1.6 million tons of dry cargo (an increase of 1.8 times), and 0.6 million tons of bulk cargo (-4.9%). The volume of cargo transshipment in the port of Astrakhan increased to 1.1 million tons (+46.3%), the port of Makhachkala increased cargo turnover to 0.8 million tons (+3.1%).
In the seaports of the Far Eastern basin, cargo turnover amounted to 54.3 million tons (-4.9%), of which the volume of transshipment of dry cargo amounted to 33.7 million tons (-9%), bulk cargo - 20.6 million tons (+2.8%). The ports increased cargo turnover: Vladivostok - up to 8.9 million tons (+9.9%), Prigorodnoye - up to 3.7 million tons (+1.6%), Nakhodka - up to 7.1 million tons (+0.7%). The volume of cargo transshipment in the Vostochny seaports decreased to 21.8 million tons (-4.5%) and Vanino to 6.4 million tons (-29.1%).
