The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is expected to launch a pilot project to use electronic consignment notes (e-CMR) in road freight transport sometime in the first half of 2026, according to trans.ru. The entire package of technical documentation for the pilot project has already been compiled, according to the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). The pilot project will expedite the receipt and verification of transport documents, the implementation of control and supervisory procedures, and settlements between transport participants. Russia and Belarus previously conducted a similar pilot project.
Specifically, the working group agreed on four basic scenarios for interaction between freight transport participants using e-CMR.
Moreover, the list of scenarios is planned to be expanded in the future.
The use of electronic waybills will reduce costs in the industry and improve the efficiency of businesses engaged in international logistics, expedite the receipt and verification of transport documents and settlements between parties involved in the shipment, and reduce the time required for control and supervisory procedures.
