A phased modernization of the Kamenny Log road crossing point on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border is underway, BelTA reports. The project will begin this year and is scheduled for completion by 2029, according to Viktor Zubik, head of the State Customs Committee's Main Directorate for Customs Control.
The main goal of the work is to widen the roadway by increasing the number of traffic lanes. As a result, the crossing point's capacity will triple to approximately 6,000 vehicles per day.
The Kamenny Log upgrade continues the customs infrastructure development program. Over the past five years, 12 road crossing points have been reconstructed in Belarus, including Berestovitsa. A total of 26 such crossing points operate in the country, with a combined capacity of 32,000 vehicles per day.
Along with the construction, digital services are also being improved: electronic document management and automated customs declarations are being actively implemented, eliminating human intervention. Well-equipped waiting areas with remote check-in options are being created for drivers, and a popular online booking system for trucks is also in operation.
