A large-scale modernization of the Kamenny Log checkpoint on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border will begin in October 2026, ABW.by reports. As Vladimir Orlovsky, head of the State Customs Committee, announced on the First Information TV channel, this will be the first complete renovation of the facility in 20 years.
What will change after the renovation:
• The number of traffic lanes will increase to 20, allowing the checkpoint to handle three times more traffic.
• The latest equipment will be installed on the site, and a separate area will be allocated for a modern inspection complex.
Currently, Kamenny Log remains the only facility on the EU border that has not undergone modernization for two decades. There is no information yet on whether traffic will be completely suspended during the construction. Over the past five years, Belarus has already renovated 12 border crossings, including Berestovitsa and Vidzy.
