The transport ministries of Kazakhstan and China held talks at the Khorgos International Center, which resulted in the signing of an agreement on Kazakhstani carriers obtaining Chinese permits when crossing the border, the Kazakhstani Ministry of Transport reported.
- As a preparatory stage, testing will be conducted from November 6 to 12: the Chinese side will provide 15,000 permits to accurately determine the average daily demand of Kazakhstani carriers. Based on this data, a daily schedule for the distribution of permits will be developed until the full launch of the unlimited permit system.
- A key decision is the planned transition to unlimited permit issuance in 2026. Under the new system, permits will be issued automatically to all vehicles entering China through an electronic queue, provided the carrier has no previous violations of Chinese law.
It is noted that in 2024, Kazakhstani carriers used 228,000 permit forms, and since the beginning of this year, more than 230,000 Chinese permit forms have already been received and used.
