St. Petersburg is expanding export support measures and is considering the possibility of sending subsidized container trains to Brazil, Venezuela, Tanzania and Cuba with goods from local manufacturers. This is reported by TASS, referring to the statement of the chairman of the Committee on Industrial Policy, innovation and trade of the city Kirill Soloveitchik.
"Such priority areas as Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil, Senegal and Tanzania are being worked out. In fact, this is a free service for the exporter - the Export Center pays for container freight, agency support and temporary storage for the period of cargo consolidation at the place of departure," he said.
The essence of transportation of combined cargoes is to combine goods from different customers into a single combined cargo. The focus is on small batches of goods that do not require special storage conditions and special temperature conditions.
The Export Support Center will cover all costs associated with cargo consolidation, agency support, shipping container freight, customs clearance, storage and delivery of goods from the port of St. Petersburg.
This will allow St. Petersburg exporters to significantly reduce the cost of transportation and delivery of cargo to the final buyer, which will lead to a significant increase in the competitiveness of St. Petersburg goods in the two largest world markets. At the current stage, the geography of the new support measure covers four ports of China - Shanghai, Qingdao, Ningbo and Nansha.
In 2023, the volume of St. Petersburg's exports to friendly countries increased by 83%. In the first quarter of 2024, this figure increased by 52.4% compared to 2023. To develop new export routes, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is developing preferential subsidized routes. Nakaragua, Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil, Senegal, Guinea, Tanzania.
