The Russian government extended the tariff quota for exports of scrap and ferrous metal waste outside the EAEU from July 1 to December 31, 2024, Interfax writes, citing information from the press service.
The quota will be 550 thousand tons. When exporting scrap and ferrous metal waste within the quota, the duty will be 5%, but not less than 15 euros per ton, in addition to this - 5%, but not less than 290 euros per ton, the agency reports.
The decision is aimed at providing strategic raw materials to domestic enterprises of the metallurgical industry, the press service explained.
In 2021-2024, the government imposed temporary export duties on ferrous and non-ferrous metals against the background of rising world prices for these products. This made it possible to mitigate the impact of the external environment on the situation on the domestic market, adjust prices for raw materials, and ensure the continuation of major infrastructure projects.
