From February 1, 2024, the Ivangorod automobile checkpoint (Leningrad region, border with Estonia) will be temporarily closed for reconstruction. The corresponding instruction was signed by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin on November 3, 2023, the press service of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Rosgranstroy reports.
Traffic on the pedestrian component will continue. Temporary structures will be located on the territory for the period of reconstruction to accommodate the employees of the state-owned enterprises who serve the pedestrian component. Next, dismantling of the existing infrastructure will begin, followed by construction and installation work, the agency informs.
In total, after the reconstruction, 16 traffic lanes will operate at the checkpoint: 8 for entry and 8 for exit from the Russian Federation. This is two lanes more than before the start of modernization, emphasize FGKU Rosgranstroy.
The capacity will increase by 22% in terms of the number of vehicles - up to 1,860 vehicles per day (100 buses, 210 trucks, 1,550 passenger vehicles) and by almost 40% in terms of the number of people crossing the border – up to 11,332 people per day.
The main construction and installation work at the checkpoint is planned to be completed in two years from the start of construction.
Rosgranstroy requests that this information be taken into account when planning the crossing of the Russian-Estonian border and choosing alternative routes through automobile checkpoints in the Pskov region of Shumilkino (on the Estonian side of Luhamaa) and Kunichina Gora (on the Estonian side of Kaidula).
