Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk assured that reconstruction work on the border of Russia and Azerbaijan will be completed by the end of this year.
He also stressed that there are no queues at the border of the two countries since 2022 thanks to the Tagirkent-Kazmalyar point.
According to Rosgranstroy, the border crossing is part of the international transport corridor "North - South" and provides transit of goods to Azerbaijan, Iran, India and the countries of Asia and the Caspian region. Its reconstruction is being carried out as part of a comprehensive modernization of the country's priority checkpoints.
"Within the framework of the project, about 30 buildings and structures were built and reconstructed: an administrative and household complex, a cynological service building, a sanitary quarantine post, an in-depth inspection box, pavilions, a pedestrian gallery, a garage, canopies. Almost 3.5 thousand cubic meters of concrete were filled in. 175 tons of metal structures were installed. 13.5 km of external engineering networks have been laid. An area of 29 thousand m2 has been paved (which corresponds to the territory of 4 football fields). Modern high-tech equipment has been installed," the official website of the department says.
In the process of implementing the task of modernizing the office and production building for the admission of tourist groups to enter the Russian Federation, the building of customs clearance of goods to leave the Russian Federation, landscaping, installation of navigation elements (pointers, illuminated display steles). More than 100 people and 17 pieces of equipment are involved in these works.
After the reconstruction is fully completed, the capacity of Yarag-Kazmalyar will increase 3.5 times to 1,870 vehicles (1,100 of them trucks) and 7,200 people per day. According to experts, the potential capacity of the border crossing can reach 2,200 vehicles per day.
