The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan has updated the rules for the transportation of dangerous, oversized, and heavy cargo. The document is harmonized with EAEU requirements and will come into force on April 25, 2026.
Key changes:
• A ban on travel through Category E tunnels (under ADR) without a pre-approved alternative route has been introduced.
• Special permits are now issued through eGov at the place of registration.
Validity depends on the number of trips:
up to 45 calendar days for up to 5 trips;
up to 90 days for 6 to 10 trips;
up to 6 months for more trips.
• Axle load standards have been updated. The permitted values have been increased, allowing for the transportation of more cargo without damaging the roads.
• The procedure for paying fees when overweight cargo is detected on a route has been clarified.
The reform is aimed at developing logistics within the EAEU and improving road safety.
