Starting from March 1, 2024, the fare in the Czech Republic will change, according to the Association of International Road Carriers.
It is specified that the amount of fees will be determined taking into account the following elements: road category (motorways, roads of the 1st category); vehicle category (vehicles in the electronic toll collection system, a separate category for M2 and M3 vehicles (buses)); four Euro car emission classes (up to Euro IV, Euro V and EEV, Euro VI, CNG-BIO Euro VI); maximum permissible weight of a vehicle or road train (over 3.5 tons and less than 7.5 tons, not less than 7.5 tons and less than 12 tons, not less than 12 tons); the number of axles of a vehicle or road train (2 axes, 3 axes, 4 axes, 5 or more axes); the period of the day (daytime tariff - from 05.00 to 21.59; night tariff - from 22.00 to 04.59); indicators of CO2 emissions of the car.
The report says that the vehicles will be divided into five classes according to CO2 emissions. Class 1 will be the least favorable class. The date of the first registration of the car will determine the CO2 emissions performance and emission class. Vehicles registered for the first time before July 1, 2019, automatically transfer to first class and do not have the opportunity to be upgraded to a more profitable class. Vehicles registered for the first time after this date will also be automatically classified if the necessary information is not available.
Information about the car class can be checked in the emissions class search engine. In case the vehicle may fall into a more favorable class, it will be necessary to provide evidence.
It is expected that the rates of road tolls will increase by about 15%, with a proportionally higher increase for vehicles weighing from 3.5 to 7.5 tons. Buses are likely to be subject to lower fare increases.
New fares will be announced later.
