New requirements for the import of goods from EU countries and other regions of the world are coming into force in the UK. Now carriers will have to fill out a short import declaration (ENS) through the Safety & Security Great Britain (S&S GB) system, according to the Association of International Road Carriers.
Safety and Reliability Declarations (ENS) for imports of goods from the EU will be mandatory from October 31, 2024. The consolidated declaration of importation must be completed before the arrival of goods for transportation to the United Kingdom (England, Scotland and Wales), Northern Ireland from the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland from outside the EU.
The consolidated declaration of entry will contain information about the safety and reliability of the goods.
To file a declaration, you must be registered with the Security and Reliability System (S&S GB) for the import of goods into the UK; the Northern Ireland Import Control System (ICS NI) for the import of goods into Northern Ireland.
When using a Freight Vehicle Transfer System (GVMS), the inclusion of any safety and Reliability declaration reference numbers in the GVMS is an optional step at this stage.
When the Government provides updated information on plans for safety and reliability requirements, any changes in this matter will be additionally notified.
