Hungary and Ukraine have prepared an agreement on the opening of a new border crossing and the movement of trucks on the border of the two countries. This was announced by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto following a telephone conversation with the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Ermak, TASS writes.
"Since tensions on the Polish-Ukrainian border have led to an increase in traffic on the Hungarian-Ukrainian border, the good news is that we have agreed to open a new border checkpoint between Nagyhodosh and Nagypalad, as well as to allow the movement of trucks through the checkpoint in Beregshurani. The text of the agreement is ready, and we will be able to sign it in the near future," the Foreign Minister wrote on his Facebook page (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
Traffic on the border between Ukraine and Poland was hampered due to protests by Polish farmers against the duty-free import of agricultural products from the neighboring country. Under these conditions, Ukrainian suppliers had to look for workarounds to transport their goods. Hungary has banned the import of agricultural products from Ukraine to its market, but allows its transit through its territory.
