The queue of trucks waiting to leave the Kaliningrad region in front of the Chernyshevskoye multilateral automobile checkpoint (MAPP) increased from 30 to 50 cars per day. Another 25 heavy trucks are waiting to pass through the Lithuanian border in the neutral zone, the press service of the Kaliningrad Regional Customs reported, TASS writes.
"50 units of cargo transport are waiting to leave for Lithuania, another 25 are in the neutral zone, already issued by Kaliningrad customs officers. <... There is no queue to enter the region," the message says.
The queue in front of the Chernyshevskoye checkpoint on the Russian side of the border began to form on January 18. Due to the slow work of the Lithuanian customs, 30 cars accumulated in front of the checkpoint, another 25 were parked in no man's land. The Lithuanian side did not explain the reasons for the slow work. Over the past day, the Lithuanian side has accepted only 62 cars, although with rhythmic work it could have accepted twice as many, Oksana Ivanova, head of the press service of the Kaliningrad Regional Customs, noted in a conversation with TASS.
Since October 24, 2023, travel through the Chernyakhovskoye checkpoint from the Kaliningrad region to Lithuania has been free. Until then, queues at this checkpoint had been fixed since mid-September 2023.
