Uzbekistan plans to radically reform its freight transport market through digitalization and the creation of a unified registry of carriers. These initiatives were included in a presentation of strategic projects delivered to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reports Trans.ru.
The primary goal of these measures is to formalize the industry, where the shadow sector accounts for over 42% of activity. To combat the illicit market, authorities will implement a unified electronic document management system, including digital waybills. Plans also include expanding the exchange of electronic permits with other countries and launching online cargo tracking.
These large-scale transformations are underpinned by financial targets: the country aims to attract $9 billion in logistics investment by 2030.
This will enable the republic to become a key transport hub connecting Europe and Asia, ensuring transparency and rapid goods delivery.
