The press service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan reported that the "Karkyra-Avtodorozhny" checkpoint on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan has been transferred to a 24-hour mode of operation. This checkpoint is multilateral, that is, it can be used for transit by carriers from third countries, and is also designed for both cargo and passenger traffic.
The changes that came into effect will increase the cargo and passenger flow between the two republics. In addition, it is worth noting that the parties agreed to carry out joint work to modernize border crossings, as well as to introduce an electronic queue system at the border, which will significantly increase its throughput capacity and the overall efficiency of border control.
“Considering the stable dynamics of cross-border traffic growth, transferring the checkpoint to a 24-hour mode is a strategically important step. “It will ensure unimpeded border crossing and will provide significant assistance to the development of tourism and trade and economic relations between our states", - said Abdikarim Alimbaev, Director of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, commenting on the new operating mode of the border crossing/
