Navigation in 2024 opened on the Volga-Don shipping channel and in the Azov-Don basin of inland waterways, Konstantin Anisimov reports, referring to the statement of the deputy head of Rosmorrechflot.
"On April 1, navigation begins on our southern system, starting from Rostov-on-Don and going up through the Kochetovsky hydroelectric complex, then the Konstantinovsky, Nikolaevsky, Volga-Don Canal and at the same time navigation opens from the Volgograd hydroelectric complex, everything is planned according to schedule. This year, there were no shifts to earlier dates due to the fact that we closed navigation late at the request of the business - on December 8, and we have major reconstructions at two hydroelectric power plants," Anisimov said.
As reported by TASS, as part of the reconstruction, specialists carried out work to replace the gates at the Nikolaev hydroelectric complex, as well as at the 13th lock of the Volga-Don Canal.
According to the results of navigation in 2023, Rosmorrechflot reported an increase of 1.5% in the total volume of cargo transportation within the borders of the Azov-Don basin compared to 2022, to over 6 million tons.
