The first vessel on the new route "Arctic Express No. 1" arrived in Arkhangelsk from China, TASS reports, citing information from the press service of the Arkhangelsk Region administration. The ship delivered spare parts for cars, household appliances and consumer goods.
"The first ship from China has arrived at the port of Arkhangelsk on the new logistics route Arctic Express No. 1. The Chinese vessel delivered spare parts for cars, household appliances and consumer goods, covering a distance of 6,600 nautical miles. One of these days it will go to China, but with the products of Arkhangelsk exporters: paper, cardboard, pulp and lumber," the message says.
Alexey Alsufyev, First Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Government of the Arkhangelsk Region, Gao Shixian, Adviser to the Chinese Ambassador to Russia, Zhou Lijun, Chairman of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia, and Ke Jin, CEO of NewNew Shipping Line, took part in the solemn ceremony of welcoming the ship.
The ship delivered almost 500 containers to Arkhangelsk. "And in two weeks we expect the arrival of two more ships, on board of which there will be about 700-800 containers. The most important thing is that we are now connected by seamless logistics with the center of the country: containers are transported from the Moscow region to Arkhangelsk, from where they will go to China along with the products of the timber industry enterprises of the region," the press service quoted Alsufyev as saying. The new route is designed to accelerate and optimize cargo transportation between Russia and China. The Arctic Express No. 1 connected the main ports of the People's Republic of China with Arkhangelsk along the Northern Sea Route.
