More than 18 tons of tropical fruits with a total value of 37 thousand dollars were delivered to the Urals in the first quarter of 2024, according to the Federal Customs Service of Russia. Compared to the same period last year, there is a three–fold increase in weight terms, and a two-fold increase in value.
"Customs control of perishable goods is carried out on a priority basis. We understand how important it is to keep fruits fresh and deliver them to consumers promptly. Therefore, customs formalities are carried out as soon as possible," the agency quotes the words of the head of the Ural Customs Department Alexei Frolov.
Lychees and "dragon fruit" are in the greatest demand among the Urals. The region received a 7-ton batch of these fruits. Imports of Chinese pineapples have tripled: more than 10 tons have arrived since the beginning of the year. Mango supplies also increased by 2 times to 4.5 tons, the report says.
