Appeals have been sent to the authorized bodies of these countries with a request to stop certification of Ecuadorian carnations from February 9 in connection with the identification of Western flower thrips in them, the agency reported.
"The Rosselkhoznadzor is concerned about the increasing cases of violations of the phytosanitary requirements of the EEA in the supply of cut flowers of Ecuadorian origin in connection with the identification of Western (California) flower thrips in them. Taking into account that the largest number of detections of quarantine objects is detected in flower products originating from Ecuador, entering the territory of Russia through the countries of the European Union (Netherlands, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania), the Russian service sent appropriate appeals to the authorized bodies of these countries with a request to stop certification of Ecuadorian carnations from February 9," it says in the message.

The ministry's message also indicates that if the supply of infected flowers to Russia continues by these countries, the Rosselkhoznadzor will be forced to move on to the next stage of introducing restrictive measures against other types of flowers.
On Friday, the agency reported that the Rosselkhoznadzor is also concerned about the situation with the supply of bananas to Russia from Ecuador in connection with the systematic detection of a dangerous quarantine object for Russia and the EAEU member states - the omnivorous humpback fly. The service asked the competent authority of the country to suspend from February 5 the certification of bananas of five Ecuadorian exporters who committed the largest number of violations.
