Turkey's refusal to import wheat will not affect Russia's export potential, domestic grain exporters in the new agricultural season will focus on key markets in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as on developing relations with India and China, the Ministry of Agriculture said following a meeting between Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut and grain exporters, TASS writes.
Russian grain exporters will focus on key markets in the Middle East and North Africa.
"The participants of the meeting agreed that Turkey's refusal to import will not affect the export potential of our country, since in the new season it is planned to reduce the supply to the world market from Russia to 60 million tons of grain. In the current conditions, domestic exporters will focus on the key markets of the Middle East and North Africa, as well as on the development of relations with India and China, where progress is being made in the supply of legumes and broad prospects for grain crops are opening up," the message says.
The Ministry recalls that this season, taking into account the high harvest of 2023, Russia plans to supply up to 70 million tons of grain to global markets, including 53 million tons of wheat.
"Now every fourth batch of wheat on the global market is of Russian origin," the Ministry of Agriculture noted.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Turkey suspends wheat imports from June 21 to October 15 to support local producers and because of the expectation of lower grain prices.
