The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation has prepared amendments to the legislation, which proposed to permanently empower the Government of the Russian Federation to expand the number of border checkpoints where customs authorities will carry out veterinary, phytosanitary and sanitary quarantine control of foreign plant and livestock products. The document was approved at a meeting of the Government of the Russian Federation. This is reported in the press service of the department.
In 2019-2022, an experiment was conducted to carry out the above–mentioned types of control at some checkpoints across the Russian border by customs authorities. During it, schemes for the organization of state control at checkpoints and mechanisms for interaction between government agencies were worked out.
The results turned out to be successful: the time of state control when importing goods to Russia was reduced, which generally contributed to an increase in the capacity of checkpoints.
In order for similar experience to be extended to other checkpoints, it is proposed to permanently empower the Government of the Russian Federation to identify such border checkpoints.
The adoption of the bill will speed up the passage of goods and transport through border checkpoints due to the absence of the need to wait for representatives of other state control bodies, according to the department.
