On May 15, the Customs services of Russia and India signed an Agreement on mutual recognition of national institutions of an authorized economic operator. This is the fifth such document for Russia and the sixth for India, according to the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
The agreement was signed by Ruslan Davydov, First Deputy Head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, and Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Head of the Central Council for Indirect Taxes and Customs of the Government of India, during the working visit of the Russian delegation to India.
The document opens up new opportunities for the introduction of a mechanism within the framework of bilateral trade that allows providing additional simplifications from the point of view of customs administration to companies with AEO status, the most conscientious category of foreign trade participants.
During the talks, the parties also exchanged views on other topical issues of cooperation in the customs sphere. These are the organization of electronic exchange of information on goods and vehicles, training of customs personnel, law enforcement, customs cooperation in the BRICS format, as well as the participation of the customs authorities of Russia and India in the development of the International Transport Corridor "North –South", etc.
