Thousands of trucks are waiting to undergo the necessary clearance procedures at the borders of the European Union and Russia, the waiting for heavy trucks in queues reaches three weeks.
This was reported by the Finnish business publication Kauppalehti, writes TASS.
A record queue was recorded at the Terekhovo - Burachki border crossing between Latvia and Russia. On May 1, there were about 2,000 trucks in line from the Latvian side, and about 100 cars can cross the border during the day. With such indicators, the waiting time increases to three weeks, the newspaper notes.
The border stations between Lithuania and Belarus, and between Lithuania and Russia (Kaliningrad) are also heavily overloaded, the newspaper writes. There is a queue of about a thousand trucks at all border crossings of Belarus in the direction of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
It is indicated that the main reason for congestion is a decrease in the number of border crossing points: all checkpoints in Finland are completely closed, two checkpoints in Latvia on the border with the Russian Federation, two checkpoints in Lithuania on the border with Belarus, Russia has closed the automobile part of the checkpoint in Ivangorod for repairs.
