New rules for entry into Lithuania from Russia and Belarus will come into force on May 3, 2026, according to the Customs Department. There should be no more than 200 liters of fuel in the tank of the truck. If the limit is exceeded, entry of the vehicle into Lithuania will be prohibited.
The purpose of introducing such a measure is to combat the resale of cheap fuel from the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on the EU "black" market.
The restriction will primarily affect carriers from the EU, Central Asia and the Caucasus region. Trucks with Russian and Belarusian registration practically do not enter Lithuania due to sanctions (with the exception of Kaliningrad transit, which is controlled separately).
