The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure has confirmed that starting from July 1, 2026, a mandatory road toll for trucks will be introduced throughout the country. The new rules will affect both local and foreign carriers, informs BAMAP.
To avoid fines, every truck must be equipped with an on-board device (OBU) by July 1.
The operator is obliged to guarantee:
• The device is serviceable and correctly installed.
• The device is linked to the license plate number of a particular car.
• The device is turned on and actively works during the entire trip.
Compliance with the rules will be strictly monitored using an automatic traffic camera system. Heavy fines are provided for violations.
As a support measure in the face of high fuel prices, tariff rates will be temporarily reduced by 22.3% from September 1 to the end of 2026.
We recommend that you prepare the fleet in advance. Details, instructions and registration are available on the official Vrachtwagenheffing website.
