Chinese carriers are planning six to eight ship calls per month to the port of Arkhangelsk in the summer and autumn navigation of 2024. This was stated by the head of the region, Alexander Tsybulsky, during a working meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Arkhangelsk, TASS reports.
"Our Chinese partners have already agreed on six to eight monthly ship calls to our port after one trial flight, so here the prospect <...> of this direction is obvious, as they say, looming, not even from our initiative, but the initiative of those who use this route appears," the governor said.
It is reported that this year the first direct flight from Arkhangelsk to Shanghai along the Northern Sea Route in the last ten years was sent, containers with lumber from one of the timber enterprises were loaded on board the ship.
It is emphasized that the travel time from the seaport of Arkhangelsk to the seaport of Shanghai along the Northern Sea Route is 20-22 days, from St. Petersburg it is 30-32 days, through the Suez Canal - up to 50 days.
