The trade turnover between Turkey and Russia amounted to $48.5 billion in the first 11 months of last year, which is $11 billion less than the same period a year earlier. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul, Andrey Buravov.
In 2022, the volume of bilateral trade with Turkey almost doubled and reached a historical maximum of $65 billion, and in the year ended 2023, the results were slightly lower, the Consul General noted. At the same time, the indicators, according to him, indicate that trade and economic relations between the two countries have serious potential for further development.
In 11 months, the volume of trade amounted to $48.5 billion, in 2022 for the same period – $59.5 billion, Buravov said.
By the end of 2022, the trade turnover between Russia and Turkey increased by 86% and amounted to a record $62 billion, Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier. The Russian leader noted that the parties have begun to actively use settlements in national currencies, and settlements in dollars and euros are declining.
In November 2023, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak also stated that the share of settlements in national currencies in Russian-Turkish trade is growing. According to him, by the end of 2022, Turkey took the second place in the list of trade partners of Russia.
