Trade turnover between Russia and the EU increased in July this year for the first time since November 2023. It has reached almost six and a half billion euros. According to Eurostat, this is the maximum value since the beginning of the year, reports rambler.ru .
In July, Russia increased the supply of goods to the EU by 21%, reaching three billion euros. At the same time, the EU increased exports to Russia by 24.5%, reaching 3.03 billion euros. The most significant increase in trade turnover was observed with Finland, Croatia and Romania. Trade with Sweden, the Czech Republic, Ireland and Spain has also increased. At the same time, trade with Cyprus, Denmark, Belgium and Slovakia declined.
Earlier it was reported that in 2023, the trade turnover between the EU and Russia decreased significantly compared to 2022, decreasing by 2.9 times, due to the introduction of EU sanctions against Russia. According to Eurostat data, EU imports from Russia amounted to 50.64 billion euros, while exports to Russia amounted to 38.32 billion euros. The main imports from Russia to the EU included energy resources such as oil, petroleum products, natural gas, as well as metals and fertilizers.
Despite the sanctions, the import of some goods, including nuclear fuel and fertilizers, continued, as they were excluded from the sanctions list. At the same time, the EU's share in total trade with Russia decreased from 36% to 15%, while trade with other non-EU countries increased.
