Russia and India increased trade turnover by 1.8 times in 2023 — to a record $ 65 billion, as a result, Moscow became the fourth largest trading partner of Delhi, RIA Novosti reported, citing data from the Indian statistical service.
Last year, India's imports of Russian products increased 1.8 times to $60.1 billion. Russia was the second main supplier of goods to India, ahead only of China with supplies worth one hundred billion dollars.
Exports of Indian goods increased 1.4 times to four billion dollars. Here, Russia has risen by seven positions in a year and has become the thirtieth. As a result, trade between Russia and India increased to $65 billion from $37 billion a year earlier, and Russia took fourth place among India's main trading partners, displacing Saudi Arabia.
The United States remained India's main trading partner last year, while the volume of trade between the two countries decreased by 9 percent to $119 billion by the end of the year. This is followed by China (-2%, up to 116 billion dollars) and the UAE (-7%, 78 billion dollars). Saudi Arabia closes the top five, whose trade with India fell by 17 percent over the year to $44 billion.
Singapore (-7%, $34 billion), Iraq (-18%, $33 billion), and Indonesia (-22%, $30 billion) were in the second five. In 2023, the Netherlands became the only trade partner of India in the top 10 besides Russia, which increased trade turnover by 17%, to $ 28.4 billion. South Korea closes the top ten, whose trade with India decreased by 2% last year to $ 27.7 billion.
