As part of the XVIII meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, an Agreement on a Single Transit Permit (ETR) was signed, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports. The project aims to simplify road transport along the Europe–Caucasus–Asia corridor and digitalize logistics.
The document has already been signed by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Ukraine. The remaining TRACECA countries (14 in total) will join upon completion of internal procedures. Carriers no longer need to obtain separate national permits for each country. The ETR gives the right to through transit through all participating States. The permission will be electronic only. Registration takes place through a web portal with the assignment of a QR code and a unique number.
Significant acceleration of border crossing, reduction of administrative barriers and increased transparency of transportation are expected. The implementation of the ETR will enhance the competitiveness of the TRACECA corridor and strengthen trade links between Europe and Asia. The Agreement will enter into force after the completion of official procedures in all signatory countries.
